On a walk this morning, on a street in the middle of nowhere, on a street where you don't see cars parked, on this very street, I saw four parked cars, two with their hoods up, one being wiped down because the windshield was all foggy, and one empty. Ten minutes later  I walked back by the same spot and there was just one car, a different car and a guy was standing behind it smoking. It was raining and dark, the darkest and rainiest day in some time.
I've seen a scene like this before. But only once. And only in one very specific place. I think you know the place I mean. And while I can't say anything for sure (as this is the closest I've come yet to anything that tells me I'm close) if I am close and this sighting means what I think it means, it won't be too long before there's something more to tell.

We think it has gone west. But that's just our best guess. Nothing to attest. Now, for a while we will rest.

To the broken down car and the owner of that car...

Wow, I just found this old post which was marked as a draft and was never officially posted.  I'd completely forgotten about this until rereading it, and I guess now I have to be super-sorry and offer a super-super-size basket... Here it is:

To the broken down car and the owner of that car...
I am sorry that this unfortunate thing happened as you were driving near the Brink of Death.  I don't know why I feel the need to apologize, I had nothing to do with it, I promise I didn't, but I wanted to let you know that since this happened before we were able unveil the complementary fruit basket program (it's coming in the next couple months) I wanted to offer you a free super-size fruit basket.  If you contact me, and don't live too far away, I would be willing to deliver it to your home.  It's extremely unlikely that you'll ever read this since we neglected to put the web address on the sign, but I hope that all is going well with you and your automobile and maybe I will hear from you soon.

Some News and Some Non-News

Dear Internet,

It's been a while and I'm sorry. I hope you can forgive me.

First, I will start with a picture of the Ring of Bricks. As I'm sure you faithful readers remember, the bricks were discovered as the epicenter of The Brink just over a year ago. I kept promising pictures and put off uploading them and then, as you faithful readers also know, The Brink disappeared and I lost interest. I'm sure you can understand.

Anyway I just came upon some old pictures which gives you a little better view of the bricks. I think this one is from around late April. I probably won't post more pics since The Brink is now gone and really the only way to experience the bricks it is to go there. So go! The Brink isn't there, but the bricks remain.

In other news (I started with a firstly and I guess I'm bound to follow it properly with a...), Secondly, Also, There's more to tell, But it's not much really, And I don't want to get your hopes up too much, But Shannon and I have resumed our search for The Brink. I can't offer much in the way of details except that we've been slowly eliminating areas where The Brink is not, but as I'm sure you're thinking that's really no way to find it, but what I really wanted to say in way of brief and vague explanation is that we found a clue in the local paper a couple weeks ago (which is why we started our search again) which has lead us to believe that The Brink didn't exactly disappear but has moved, and we think that maybe it hasn't moved all that far. I'm not promising anything, but let's all be hopeful. And just in case it is still around, let's all be on watch when walking around the west side of Chicago.

The Brink of Death has disappeared

I'm not sure what that means, but it's gone.

Oh well.

The Ring of Death

It's not a great picture.  We wanted to clean up a bit and show you what's really here, but we've been slacking too much to make you wait any longer for an image.  This is all we have so far.
The ring symbol appears a few places around the Brink (again I will have to promise to get back to you with that evidence).  In this image you can see a ring of bricks.  We've tried to clear the area (mostly the tops of the bricks) to make the ring more noticeable.  When we found it, the ring could not be seen unless you knew exactly what you were looking for.  We only discovered it by literally stepping on it as we were walking through.

It is made of common bricks, flush with the ground, and shows signs (decay and overgrowth) of having been here for years.  It's not a regular circle and the ring varies in width from 2 bricks to 5 bricks.    From what we've uncovered so far we believe this to be the central location (if there is one) for the Brink of Death.

If you want more proof please come out and visit.  I assure you it's a fantastic place.  Otherwise, try to be patient.
